Topic: #metoo and Roseanne: The Impact of Social Media on Employment Law
Ms. Caspers will share insights into the changing world of employer investigations as the result of the #metoo social media events, Bill Cosby allegations, Harry Weinstein allegations and Roseanne Barr’s tweet resulting in her show cancellation. She will explore what has changed and what has not when dealing with claims and allegations of inappropriate workplace behavior. Further, Ms. Caspers will examine how the National Labor Relations Act and the Minnesota Off Duty Conduct Statute may (or may not) play a part in what an employer can and cannot do in these situations. Finally, she will walk through best practices as it relates to work place investigations in this day and age of instant social media exposure.
