Topic: Hack My Brain: The Psychology Behind Modern Scams
Modern attacks hop channels, but they succeed by advancing a conversation. By shaping perception and trust across email, messaging, identity, and cloud workflows – and by moving fluidly between humans and agents – attackers exploit psychology over time. This talk explains why visibility across the full conversation is critical and how security leaders must rethink protection when attacks unfold as influence, not incidents.
Speaker: Katlyn Ostrom, Sr. Program Manager of Global Cybersecurity Strategists at Proofpoint
Katie has been with Proofpoint since June 2025 and is a Senior Program Manager supporting the Global Cybersecurity Strategist team. Previously, she spent over 10 years at Medtronic as a hands-on security practitioner, leading efforts in business analysis, metrics-driven strategy, and process improvement. Her experience spans GRC, insider risk, security policy management, and security awareness, including the design and implementation of a metrics program that provided visibility into cybersecurity performance at the leadership level. Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Process Management, an MBA with a concentration in Technology Management, and is a CISSP-certified security professional.
